Reiser Reading

The activities described in the Reiser reading are projected to instruct students on interdisciplinary topics through a variety of learning styles. Reiser describes the different stations in which the students can work and explore the topics in small groups to help teach one another with a low affect level.
The Integrated Final Projects are also geared to teach at least four interdisciplinary topics to coordinate school curriculum. This helps students to see the value and relevance of the topics being taught. The final projects use technology in appropriate ways to help students explore new ways of finding information.
In the constantly technologically advancing society students are currently being exposed to, it is necessary to utilize every opportunity to apply these advances in the classroom. Students, in general, are quick to understand technology and find more interest in the curriculum when modern methods are included in instruction.
It takes planning and sincere thoughtfulness on the part of the teacher to utilize these lesson plans with current technology, but the advantages to both students and teachers make the effort well worth it.

  1. I do agree that most students are more motivated by the use of technology in the classroom. And I like that this method can help students see that any subject area can be interesting and applicable to several real-life situations. This teams method can be a huge success, but only if all teachers involved are actually putting in equal effort to make it a success.

  2. It does take a lot of energy on the teachers part to effectively incorporate technology into their lessons. Yet after the initial back breaking work students can then work on their own and be their own agents for learning. Integrating multiple disciplines into a lesson plan heightens learning by shining a light on other areas where the same information applies. It is pretty cool.
